How to Choose the Right Toothpaste ?

The variety of toothbrushes is so vast these days, that choosing the right one can be a challenge! We therefore wanted to give you a few tips to make your selection easier.

In general, it’s better to go small than too big. Toothbrushes with small heads can get into difficult places like the teeth at the back of the mouth. Also, it’s preferable if the head is rounded or oval. Square-shape heads can prevent you from reaching your back teeth or can injure the inside of your cheek.

As for bristles, they must be made of soft or extra soft nylon. These are more effective at dislodging dental plaque and food residue. They also conform better to the rounded surfaces of each tooth and can clean under the gums without the risk of cuts or bleeding.

Lastly, the handle should be light and easy to grip. A number of toothbrushes have slip-resistant handles which facilitate use, even with wet hands.

You should replace your toothbrush when it starts to show wear and tear. If your bristles have become deformed (i.e. bent or flattened), it’s time to change! A good habit to adopt is to replace your toothbrush every three months.

For some, an electric toothbrush can be a good alternative. Read our article on this topic to learn more.
