IMPLANTS: IS A BONE GRAFT NECESSARY?
Dental implants are used to support artificial replacement teeth, thus restoring tooth function, comfort, health and aesthetics in people with one or more missing teeth. However, in some cases it may be appropriate to add or regenerate the bone prior to (or while) inserting the implant.

Why?

When a patient has lost one or more teeth, the jaw bone is gradually absorbed over the years, since it is no longer stimulated by the teeth. As a result, there may not be enough bone volume to support an implant.

Bone grafts
Bone grafting aims to restore resorbed bone, a situation that usually occurs following tooth loss. However, resorption does not always need to be corrected before implants can be installed.

Only an examination by a dentist trained in dental implantology can provide you with what you need to make an informed choice.
