Frenectomy
Frenectomy is a minor procedure performed under local anaesthesia that involves cutting the frenulum — a small fold of tissue that can inhibit movement.
Labial frenulum: tissue that connects the lip (top and bottom) to the jawbone
Lingual frenulum: tissue that connects the tongue to the jawbone
A frenectomy is performed when the position of the frenulum causes slurred speech, receding gums, crooked teeth, etc.
Postoperative pain is minimal and the patient can resume normal activities almost immediately.
